Modest Shorts

Saturday, May 28, 2016

The weather is getting warmer which means it's time to break out the shorts! Unfortunately this can be a stressful time for any ladies wanting to stay cool and modest at the same time. It's difficult to find a cute pair of modest shorts. So, I have shopped around and made a list of places I have found to have modest yet stylish shorts. I don't have a picture of me modeling any of these since I'm still in preggo pants; the picture above is a just a pair I bought last year. However, once baby is out and I'm down to a descent size, I know where I'll be shopping for shorts this season!

Favorite Meatless Meals

Tuesday, May 24, 2016

Well, I'm still pregnant over here. 1 more week to go and I cannot wait! Needless to say, I haven't been too fond of cooking lately. For that reason we've been doing a lot of easy meals for dinner and many of them are meatless too. I want to share some of the easy, meatless meals that we love. Don't get me wrong, Tyler and I love meat, but there are plenty of recipes that are great without it -and they're cheap! Lizzie sure doesn't mind, we usually have to hide meat in her food to get her to eat it anyway. So next time you want a budget friendly meal, try one of these!

If you want to add meat, chicken goes great with it. We love it with broccoli too!

The great thing about tostadas is you can make them however you want. We fry our own corn tortillas and like to melt the cheese on the refried beans before adding the rest of the toppings over it.

Hope you like these recipes as much as we do!

Twice Baked Potatoes

Monday, May 23, 2016

If you're bored of the same ol' baked potatoes, you've got to try these babies out. I love this twist on baked potatoes. It takes a little more time effort but it's worth it! These are great as a side dish but also work as a main dish because they're quite filling. You can add more toppings too, like bacon! I didn't use bacon this time around because I didn't have any on hand. But don't worry, this dish is good with or without it. You can even eat them with your hands if you're feeling adventurous.

Ingredients
4 large potatoes
1 1/2 cup shredded cheese
5 green onions, chopped
1/2 sour cream
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper

Directions
Preheat oven to 375 F. Wash and dry potatoes, use a fork to poke a few holes in the potatoes, place on baking tray and bake for 1 hour. Once baked, let the potatoes cool for about 10 minutes. Cut each potato in half lengthwise. Scoop out in insides of the potato into a mixing bowl but leave about 1/4 inch of the insides on the skin. Place the hollowed potatoes back on baking tray. Add half the cheese, half the green onions, sour cream, butter, milk, salt, and pepper into mixing bowl with the potatoes. Mix together. Scoop potato mixture into the potato skins. Sprinkle remaining green onions and cheese on top. Bake for another 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted.  Enjoy!

What's In My Hospital Bag?

Monday, May 9, 2016

It's getting close to due date! We've got just about everything ready for baby boy's arrival and I've put together my hospital bag. I thought I'd share what's in mine, just for any expecting mothers who want ideas of what to pack. I have a better idea this time around of what is essential and what is not. Tyler's stuff will also be going into the hospital bag (toiletries, snacks, phone charger, etc.). Babys' stuff will go in the diaper bag. We're so excited to meet our little guy!

For Me:
toiletries  (hair brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, dry shampoo, body wash, face wash, lotion)
make up bag
comfortable going home outfit
socks
undies
flip flops
pajamas
camera
phone and phone charger
nursing bras
nursing pads
nipple cream
nursing cover
prenatal vitamins
boppy nursing pillow

For Baby (diaper bag):
going home outfit
sleeper
hat and mittens
swaddle blanket
burp cloths
pacifiers
diaper cream
diapers and wipes - the hospital should provide some, but I want to pack a few just in case
